I still remember my first year at the School of Visual Arts in NYC studying Basic Advertising with Vinny Tulley who worked as a Creative Director over at DeVito/Verdi. The class was part Mad Men and part The Godfather. He spent the entire class taking us through historical ads that were not just great ads but were ads that truly changed the advertising landscape. One campaign that stuck out to me in particular was the Think Small ad created to introduce the Volkswagen Beetle. From that day forward it was the bar I used to judge all future ads by. Lucky for me I recently got the opportunity to pay homage to it by helping Firehouse introduce their new small sub.
